BRENT SIMS'S diverse litigation practice covers a broad range of matters with particular attention to business disputes involving coverage issues, contractual obligations, bad faith, subrogation, and product liability.  He has broad international experience with China and is conversant in Mandarin. 

Mr. Sims has far-reaching experience representing Chinese, Taiwanese, and Mexican manufacturers in products lawsuits.  He advises corporate clients on contractual obligations including insurance policies, leases, and construction agreements and has given opinions regarding factories, multi-use buildings, and retail outlets.  In a third area of his practice, Mr. Sims has broad experience with regard to disputes in the energy and utility field.  Finally, he has experience with business disputes involving trademark and copyright matters.  

A graduate of California State University Fullerton and USC Law School, Mr. Sims is admitted to practice before all California courts and the U.S. Supreme Court.  Before joining WHGC, Mr. Sims was an associate at Clausen Miller P.C. and Wesierski & Zurek, LLP. 

Mr. Sims's Notable Engagements:

  • Provided first-party coverage opinions regarding factories, multi-use buildings, and retail outlets in California, Arizona, Washington, and Hawaii.
  • Pursued defective minibar recovery from Mexican manufacturer.
  • Represented Chinese plumbing and bicycle component manufacturers in a variety of lawsuits.
  • Oversaw settlement on behalf of Chinese client of 160 cases in Montreal following bankruptcy of North American entity.
  • Oversaw and drafted appeal overturning in trial court award of indemnity damages relating to multi-party construction defect case.
  • Responsible for defense of fraud case involving real estate appraiser in multi-property litigation with under secured lenders.
  • Drafted and argued more than 50 motions for summary judgment.
