WHGC, P.L.C. and Dacheng Law Offices Strategic Alliance Highlighted in the Orange County Register January 6, 2012

WHGC and Dacheng Law Offices’ Joint Speaking Engagement a SuccessJeffrey Calvin

Palo Alto, CA – The speaking engagement hosted and sponsored by WHGC, P.L.C and the Palo Alto Area Bar Association was considered a great success with many people attending the seminar and reception last Monday at the Westin Palo Alto.

WHGC and Dacheng Law Offices, the largest law firm in China, presented, “Overcoming Legal Hurdles of Foreign Investments in China,” which tackled issues that face American companies interested in branching out to China for opportunities.

WHGC partner and moderator of the event, John van Loben Sels, was pleasantly surprised at the outcome but most importantly, on how the subject generated plenty of inquiries about doing business in China.

Connecting Ties: WHGC and Dacheng Law Offices unite to present its first joint-speaking seminar which garnered much success to a topic unfamiliar to the U.S.

“Monday’s presentation was an enormous success for all who attended,” said van Loben Sels. “Mr. Shu of Dacheng Law Offices’ Beijing branch, pulled back the curtain on a process that previously had been impenetrable to Westerners.”

The two-hour seminar and reception covered key features of China’s current foreign investment protection policy and laws and described how to identify and solve problems encountered by foreign investors. Attendees also learned successful stories experienced by Chinese and U.S. practitioners.

Plans for conducting follow-on speaking engagements are likely as WHGC was invited by the San Mateo County Bar Association to speak at their venue in the near future.

“It is flattering and gratifying that so many are interested in learning our approach to complex business problems,” said van Loben Sels.

WHGC is a forward-thinking law firm for some of the world’s most innovative companies and serves a diverse group of clients from leading multinational corporations to start-up entrepreneurs.
