Patent Damages Expert, Richard F. Cauley to Speak at 2011 AIPLA Spring Meeting May 6, 2011

San Francisco, CA – WHGC partner and authority on patent damages, Richard Cauley will speak at the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) on May 12, 2011 at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco.

His topic, “Now You See It, Now You Don’t: The Disappearing Damages Legislation Reform Trick,” will review the various patent reform proposals which have been offered in Congress since 2005 but have yet passed.

“Congress has attempted to impose its own patent damages methodologies on the Federal Courts over the years but, fortunately, has not succeeded,” Cauley said. “The hands-off approach finally adopted in the current legislation speaks well of the Federal Circuit’s taking charge on this issue and making it a priority.”

The two-day conference will feature other speakers addressing issues in the intellectual property field.

With a long and extensive career in intellectual property, Cauley has been a speaker on many panels dealing with intellectual property litigation and was invited to speak at AIPLA’s 2011 Spring Meeting on the issue of patent reform.

Cauley’s second edition of Winning the Patent Damages Case, published by Oxford University Press, debuted last March after receiving significant recognition of his first edition, which was cited in the landmark patent damages case in Lucent Technologies v. Gateway.
